How DosePractice earns trust
DosePractice does not ask learners to accept a black-box answer. It shows the method, substitutes the practice values, shows the working and gives the mathematical result so the arithmetic can be checked independently.
DosePractice is an independent educational numeracy resource. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHS, NMC, any university or any healthcare employer. It must not be used for patient-specific decisions.
How an answer is checked
- Method: the arithmetic method is recorded in the project source/method register.
- Substitution: the fictional or tutor-provided values are shown in the formula.
- Working: the calculation steps are displayed rather than hiding the process.
- Result: the final number, unit and rounding rule are shown.
- Automated verification: regression tests recalculate the question bank and check that displayed answers are accepted by the marking logic.
- Traceability: questions use stable IDs so a reported problem can be linked to the affected content and version.
Who checks DosePractice?
DosePractice is a solo-owner project. AI tools have substantially assisted development, but AI is not treated as a clinician, regulator, authorising body or independent reviewer. The owner remains responsible for publication decisions and must complete the recorded review of content, sources, wording, units, rounding and educational boundaries before commercial publication or search indexing.
DosePractice is not independently clinically validated unless a future page explicitly states otherwise and describes the exact scope of that review. Automated arithmetic tests do not establish clinical suitability, regulatory approval or educational effectiveness.
What the tests can and cannot prove
Automated checks can identify many arithmetic, marking, link, privacy, security and regression faults. They cannot prove that every question is perfectly worded, that every learner will understand it, that the product is suitable for patient care, or that a regulator or university approves it.
What happens if something is wrong?
DosePractice is designed so content can be reported using a stable question ID, withdrawn when necessary, corrected, regression-tested and recorded in the public status/corrections route. A material correction should state what changed and why without pretending errors can never happen.

Sources and methods
The project maintains a source/method/rounding register for the arithmetic methods used. Before public release, source, version/date, unit and rounding decisions must be reviewed and approved by the owner. A public summary of the method and relevant source information should be available without exposing private project files or the raw master question bank.

Privacy and independence
No learner account is required. Entered answers and individual scores are not sent to DosePractice's analytics service. Never enter patient information. Optional site measurement is designed to be privacy-minimised and must not be used to create a named learner profile.
What DosePractice does not claim
- It does not confirm that a dose is safe.
- It does not verify a prescription.
- It does not authorise medication administration.
- It does not prove professional competence.
- It does not claim NHS, NMC, university, CQC, WHO or employer approval.
- It does not claim that use improves patient outcomes or reduces medication-error incidence.
For organisations
DosePractice is not a clinical checking system, competency assessment or mandatory training platform. Any organisation considering formal use must complete its own educational, clinical-safety, accessibility, information-governance and procurement review.
